The Ikaalinen battery energy storage system is a modern solution for balancing the power system. As a Type C energy storage project, it required precise modelling and full compliance with grid requirements.
Ampner was responsible for grid compliance verification, which was a key focus of the project. The system was modelled using PSS®E to verify both compliance and battery functionality. Compliance-related testing was also successfully carried out at the site.
As part of its service portfolio, Ampner also performed protection relay settings, which are critical to ensuring a safe and reliable connection to the medium-voltage network. The total capacity of the energy storage system is 13 MW.
